BBC School News Report

Back to the… past: Ex-student Frank Czupich talks about his memories of Friern Barnet School in the 1960s

Frank Czupich returns to Friern Barnet School to bask in the nostalgia of his childhood memories.
School reporters Alfie and Nadia are with Frank discussing his memories and favourite moments from secondary school. Frank’s return begins with a warm greeting from our reporters before they begin to discuss Friern Barnet in 1965.

Frank points out that the structure of the school has changed very little and even the lessons are similar to those that he took part in 47 years ago. On the subject of lessons, Frank and company take a trip down to the Usher building to go to the technology block. Technology lessons were where Frank enjoyed some of his favourite lessons.
There are some additions to the school that are new to Frank, as he discovered in the Usher building where he found some protective goggles on the wall (something hard for the younger generation to imagine not being there). His trip to the canteen also yielded a discovery, where he found breakfast and break menus on the wall.
To top off a wonderful day, our reporters took Frank to the site of one of his favourite memories from his Friern Barnet days, where they all enjoyed a moment at the very same post box on which Frank stood tall in 1965 (pictured below).
